Imad Wasim, player of the HBL PSL franchise Karachi Kings, has been fined for his inappropriate gesture to Islamabad United’s Rahmanullah Gurbaz on Monday at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The incident happened during the opening of the match. Imad had dismissed Gurbaz after the latter hit two consecutive sixes. Imad Wasim was fined and judged according to Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel according to the statement released by Pakistan Cricket Board.
The article relates to “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a PSL match”.
Since he had accepted his misbehavior hence there was no need for a formal hearing. Imad Wasim has been fined 5% of his match fee.
Cricket fans are however appreciating Wasim for his 55-runs knock against Islamabad United yesterday. The charges were leveled against him by on-field umpire Asif Yaqoob and Richard Illingworth, third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Nasir Hussain. The offense was categorized as Level 1 breach carrying the punishment of an official warning and/or imposition of a fine.

Also in the same match, Imad Wasim celebrated the wicket of skipper Shadab Khan in a different style. The celebration style of Wasim caught the attention of cricket fans are received mixed reactions. After taking the wicket of Shadab Khan, he was seen drinking from his palm. In the same match, Wasim took two wickets and gave away 30 runs in four overs.
