Imran Khan demands action against officials behind Azam Swati’s torture

While addressing PTI supporters on the second day of the long march, Imran Khan urged Chief of Army Staff General Bajwa to remove the officials and initiate an inquiry against them.

PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has demanded strict action against army officials allegedly involved in the custodial torture of PTI leader Senator Azam Swati.

Imran Khan, while addressing PTI supporters on the second day of the long march, urged Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa to remove the officials and initiate an inquiry against them. He said they were bringing “disrepute to the army, Pakistan, and you”.

“You should investigate them and transfer them,” he added.

Moreover, Imran Khan also called on Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial to protect people’s fundamental rights and take action against the alleged custodial torture of PTI leaders, particularly Senator Azam Swati.

“Chief justice sahib, it is your job to protect fundamental rights. The nation is looking towards you. Action is taken against custodial torture across the world …Who will protect our fundamental rights if not you chief justice sahib?” he said.

“Today, chief justice, I am asking you to take action and listen to Azam Swati’s appeal. Show that we are a society of humans and not animals. There is justice in human society … It is our right that we are given justice,” Imran Khan also said.

Azam Swati accuses officials of torture

Earlier, Azam Swati named the Army Officers allegedly involved in his custodial torture.

According to the details, Azam Swati revealed the names in a press conference. He named Major General Faisal and Sector Commander Faheem and accused them of torture against a civilian. Azam Swat also called for authorities to remove the officers from their posts so that they do not misuse their power.

“In my 22 years of political service for the country, I have seen much better major generals, brigadiers, and IG police than you,” Azam Swati said while not holding back.
