But the next morning, he was found unconscious. Following this he was shifted to the hospital in Adiala jail. He was pronounced dead following a medical examination.

An under-trial inmate in the murder case was allegedly raped and killed by four other inmates in Adiala jail on January 1st, 2024.

Cases of rape and murder have been registered against the accused prisoners who are said to be having an influential background. As per the reports, the incident happened in a cell reserved for AIDS patients. The cell had nine prisoners during the incident.

Adiala superintendent has registered the case and five officials on duty have been suspended from their posts following the incident.

Adiala Superintendent Asad Javaid Warraich filed a report (FIR) with the Saddar Bairooni police. The report mentioned that Sabeel, son of Karamat, was in the “chakki #10 of the new jail cell#2,”. Late on Monday night, some under-trial prisoners raised concerns about his health.

Upon checking him, the dispenser diagnosed the victim with a severe breathing problem. After which he was given medicine. But the next morning, he was found unconscious. Following this he was shifted to the hospital in Adiala jail. He was pronounced dead following a medical examination.

Torture marks were found around his neck and his death seemed suspicious,” the superintendent of jail said in the FIR.

During the investigation, inmates claimed that Sabeel Karamat was tied up, sexually assaulted, and choked to death with an old cloth. They alleged that it was done by fellow inmates, including Mohammad Waqas, Asif, Naqash, and Bilal Riaz, with Waqas pressing his foot on Sabeel’s throat and chest.

Authorities have assured strict action will be taken against the culprits following the investigation.
