Iranian conference highlights need for adaptation to changing global order

"Geometry of the New World Order" conference in Iran discussed changing global order, rise of China, and need for US and allies to adapt.

A recent conference titled “Geometry of the New World Order” was held in Iran, bringing together academics, professionals, and thinkers from 36 nations to discuss the changing dynamics of the global order. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf and Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri were among the main lecturers at the conference. The discussions centred around the idea that the world is on the verge of a new order, and the US and its allies need to recognize this reality to avoid a downward spiral.

The idea for the conference was sparked by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution’s remarks following the breakout of the Ukraine conflict. The Leader said that a new era in human history is about to happen and that academia and universities should play a major role in bringing about this new era. The conference brought together experts from various fields to share their insights and perspectives on the current global order and its potential evolution.

Unipolar Order and the Rise of China

Chief of Staff of Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri noted that the unipolar order has never stabilised and that the world is on the verge of a new order. Baqeri emphasised that change has been the rule governing the universal order in different historical eras, and the continuation of an order does not necessarily translate into its accuracy. He added that since the beginning of the 20th century, the Eastern and Western blocks have sought to dominate the West Asia region and exploit its strategic potentials.

Baqeri also noted that China has surpassed the United States as the world’s largest economy, and its determination to invest across Asia, as well as some sections of Africa and Europe, plainly demonstrate that a new global order is taking shape. He warned that if Europe fails to free itself from dependence on the United States and recklessly follows Washington’s policies, it will fall into an unstoppable downward spiral. He also warned Washington’s allies in Europe and elsewhere that they will fall behind if they continue to support US policies blindly.

Iran’s Role in the Emerging World Order

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf stressed on the importance of strengthening Iran’s ties with Islamic nations and the resistance front, particularly in the fields of commerce and industry. He highlighted the need for Iran to take advantage of opportunities in the Asian continent in line with national interests. Qalibaf prioritised Iran’s neighbourhood policy and emphasised fostering greater cohesiveness and convergence among the Islamic Ummah from East Asia to West Africa.

Implications for the US and its Allies

Speakers at the conference emphasised the need for the US and its allies to recognize the changing global order, adapt to it, and reassess their ties with the US. They noted the rise of China as a global economic power and the decline of the Israeli regime. They also criticised the unlawful presence of the Zionist regime in the region.
