Is DFSK Glory Pro underrated in crossover SUV market of Pakistan?

While KIA Sportage, MG HS and Hyundai Tucson are the most talked about crossover SUVs in Pakistan, is DFSK Glory Pro a hidden jewel of Pakistan's SUV market?

The Crossover SUV sector of Pakistan is growing at a fast pace, having so many options available today including MG HS, KIA Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, DFSK Glory to name a few.

With MG, Hyundai, and KIA taking the lead, DFSK seems to be the underdog of the market. However, some people claim that Glory is a much better car in Pakistan.

A Netizen named Akbar on Twitter quoted that DFSK is the “Most underrated car in Pakistan.. Glory”.

So let us compare the Glory 580 Pro with the very popular KIA Sportage in Pakistan.

Engine

The Glory 580 Pro comes with a 1500cc turbocharged engine, producing 150hp at 5600 RPMs and 220Nm Torque at 4000 RPMs, while the  KIA Sportage features a 2000cc Naturally Aspirated engine, which produces 155hp at 6200RPMs and 196Nm Torque at 4000 RPMs.

Although Glory Pro’s engine is smaller in size, as it is Turbocharged, it produces higher torque and almost similar horsepower against Sportage.

Glory comes with a CVT transmission, While KIA’s SUV has a 6-Speed Automatic transmission, making the Chinese car again more advanced in this segment.

Glory 580 Pro Vs. KIA Sportage

The Chinese crossover is longer and higher than its Korean counterpart. Glory Pro is 1715mm high, 4680mm long, and 1845mm wide, while the KIA Sportage has a height of 1635 mm, length of 4485 mm, and width of 1855 mm.

Other exterior comparisons come in the headlight, both have the same LED headlights. Furthermore, the DFSK’s Glory comes with heated, and electric side-view mirrors with a 360-degree camera on them, meanwhile KIA’s Sportage doesn’t feature any 360-degree camera but comes equipped with only heated, and electric side-view mirrors.

Interior

The first notable thing on the inside is the seating capacity. KIA Sportage can seat up to 5 people; meanwhile, up to 7 persons can sit in the Glory Pro. Pro features leather seats versus Sportage’s fabric seats. 

Glory Pro has a state-of-the-art feature called i-Talk. Through this latest feature, one can open/close windows of the car, attend/reject phone calls, control AC temperature, among others, using just voice control.  However, Sportage does not have any such feature. 

Glory Pro features a 9-inch infotainment system, but KIA Sportage has an 8-inch system.

Safety

First and foremost, the Glory Pro has four airbags, compared to two in the KIA Sportage.

Other basic safety features which both cars have include electronic braking assistance, adjustable steering wheel, anti-braking system, parking cameras, and dual-tone horn, cruise control, immobilizer system.

Price

According to the website, the price for the Crossover SUV Glory Pro 1.5 CVT is Rs4,229,000, while KIA Sportage costs Rs4,782,000.
