JS Bank has initiated a partnership with Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Institute of Science & Technology (SZABIST) to help out fresh graduates to fulfilling their dreams of becoming future entrepreneurs. SZABIST is among the leading educational institutes within the country with quite a reputation in Karachi’s academic circles and its alumni can now avail the JS Prime Minister Youth Business Loan (PMYBL).
Through this arrangement, aspiring alumni of SZABIST can take advantage of much-needed support for establishing start-ups or a registered business, at a highly subsidized mark-up rate of 6% per annum. Students and alumni between the ages of 21 and 45 years of age with entrepreneurship and business management skills learnt through SZABIST facilities are eligible to apply for the loan.
JS Bank also enjoyed a pretty successful sports season last month where the first ever JS Bank Junior Squash tournament held in Karachi to promote the country’s squash legacy.
In a statement made to the media, Babbar Wajid, Head of Product Development & Business Management at JS Bank, explained that this alliance would fulfill the aim of human development many institutions are following in Pakistan. By opening the doors of entrepreneurship for creative young people the startup industry could take further hold.
Pakistan’s social and economic sectors are still undergoing much change while catching up haphazardly with the times. Economies of countries like Denmark for instance run exclusively on the startup sector. More diverse economies like Pakistan’s could include very interesting symbiosis of such modern and native aspects within the economy. Wajid emphasized the positivity of the idea saying it is poised to bring about something much bigger in the country’s dynamics and would certainly contribute to its evolution.
SZABIST is among the leading educational institutes within the country with quite a reputation in Karachi’s academic circles and its alumni.

Only last month JS Bank sponsored the Green Innovation Challenge to address environmental issues facing the country. The competition was organized by the WWF and UN Clean Seas campaign. It involved engaging social entrepreneurs by providing them a platform for developing plastic elimination initiatives.
