KP Govt offers employment to Pakistan’s Charlie Chaplin

Provincial Minister for Labour and Culture, Shaukat Yousafzai, had invited Khan to his residence and offered him to provide a job.

The provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) has offered a job to Usman Khan, a Peshawar-based lookalike of Charlie Chaplin.

Provincial Minister for Labour and Culture, Shaukat Yousafzai, had invited Khan to his residence and offered him to provide a job. Yousafzai encouraged Khan to continue to entertain people. Talking to the media he said that offer of a job is a gift to Khan from the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The minister believes that he would better be able to focus on his talents if he is given suitable employment.

 

Khan came to attention after his videos mimicking Charlie Chaplin went viral on social media. The comedian dresses like Chaplin in a black and white suit paired with a stick and a small mustache.

Pakistan’s Charlie Chaplin thanked the KP government for the kind gesture. Talking about his art of mimicking Chaplin, he said he used to watch his videos in his childhood. The legendary actor hence inspired him to bring a smile to the faces of the people.

Khan added that it was during the time of coronavirus lockdown that he first started showing his talent to the people with an intention to cheer people amid testing times. He added that he may seem a jubilant person to the people outdoor but he is hardships in his life.  However, he shuts the door of his past whenever he steps out of his home.

Talking about the people of Peshawar, Khan said that people of the city of flowers have seen tough and horrific times when terrorism had badly hit the cities, hence if people are happy to see him then he is willing to cheer them more.

 

Usman Khan used to sell children’s toys for earning. Now he has gained more than 800,000 followers on his social media platform of TikTok. People from all over the world have been following him on social media. His followers enjoy his silent comedy.

“Making people smile with silent comedy, winning people’s hearts with silent comedy is a difficult task,” Khan said while talking to Reuters.

He hopes that film producers and directors will notice him. Khan says that if he gets rich one day he will share his fortune with less fortunate people. He does not earn much from hawking toys to cover daily expenses. Khan feels happy when children surround him for pictures.
