M Jibran Nasir returns home a day after his abduction

Upon his safe return, he talked to the media and expressed gratitude to people for standing by his side and raising their voices for him.

Lawyer and human rights activist M Jibran Nasir returns home after being abducted on Thursday night. He remained in abduction for a day.

His abduction by unknown men had created a storm on social media. Calls were made for his release with former Prime Minister Imran Khan and other leading politicians condemning his abduction and urging the government to make efforts for his release.

Earlier his wife Mansha Pasha said that police officials refused to register a complaint of his abduction. A video of her informing people about his abduction went viral on social media. “We were returning home from dinner when a white Vigo intercepted our car and almost smashed into it. Around 15 men in plain clothes forcibly took him away. They were carrying pistols,” she said in her video message.

Regarding his abduction, HRCP said. “HRCP is deeply concerned by reports that lawyer and activist Jibran Nasir has been abducted by unknown armed persons in Karachi. We demand that he be safely recovered immediately and his abductors held accountable under the law.”

“Jibran Nasir is a brave soul who speaks truth to power and has done so for many years. Disturbing news about his apparent abduction and I hope he is released soon,” prominent author and Director of Wilson Centre’s South Asia Institute Michael Kugelman said.

Upon his safe return, he talked to the media and expressed gratitude to people for standing by his side and raising their voices for him.

In his tweet, he said, “All friends and colleagues especially journalists, lawyers and bar councils, civil society and politicians With the prayers and efforts of I have returned home safely.”

“Due to the greatness and struggle you all stood by me and my family and ensured my return, that greatness is still standing and the struggle will continue,” said Nasir in his tweet.
