Murad Saeed blames Mohsin Dawar for fueling attack on army check post

Murad Saeed informed the house that the protest was going in North Waziristan for the last three days, however, as soon as Mohsin Dawar visited the protesters they were incited to attack an army check post. “It was quite peaceful but then an MNA, who belongs to Waziristan, called the protesters and urged them to attack the check post,” he said.

He grilled Dawar, who has been a staunch supporter of American drone attacks in the tribal areas of Pakistan. “Now you talk about rights? You do not want Pakistan to become a strong nation,” he alleged.

He was referring to the Sunday protests in North Waziristan, where PTM supporter not only attacked the army check post but also targeted soldiers. Resultantly, five soldiers got injured and one of them embraced martyrdom. Moreover, 8 attackers have reportedly been killed by the security forces as well.

Murad Saeed, had worked on grassroots’ level, and knows local issues better than anybody else. He should be given the chance to head the committee if at all it is constituted.

PTI’s leader also responded to criticism and allegations leveled by the opposition leaders in and outside the assembly. “I just have a few questions for people asking for their rights now. Who was ruling when Army was called to the districts to fight terrorism in 2009? You were responsible for bringing life back to normal. You failed to do so,” Murad Saeed clarified.

Furthermore, the Federal minister also clarified that he was also a victim of the operations but he did not complain. “I know whose fault is this. My leader [Imran Khan] is the one who always stood up for Pashtuns and demanded rights for them. He has been speaking for them since he joined politics,” he told the house.

Maryam Nawaz, vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari did issue sympathetic remarks for PTM and took tough at the armed forces. Murad Saeed asked “Bilawal said Mohsin Dawar cannot attack the check post. How did he know before visiting the place or accessing the available evidence?”

It is believed that the opposition, afraid of the ongoing accountability process, is using every possible effort to put the ruling party and military establishment under pressure to get the desired outcomes.

Analysts appreciated the federal minister for his fearless comments in the assembly. “Murad Saeed, had worked on grassroots’ level, and knows local issues better than anybody else. He should be given the chance to head the committee if at all it is constituted,” said Khawar Ghumman of Dunya News.
