On the 21st of March, 2019, JS Bank signed with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as title sponsors for the Pakistan-Australia series, which was scheduled to be played in Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and Dubai from March 22nd to 31st, 2019. The series is currently being played in Sharjah cricket stadium.

The tournament trophy was unveiled at Sharjah Stadium on March 22nd, in a joint ceremony in the presence of Azhar Khan, Group Head Operations and Technology – JS Bank along with Shoaib Malik, Captain of the Pakistan team and Aaron Finch, Captain of the Australian team.

The Bank has also launched its own program titled ‘Future World Champions’ which aims to nurture the growth of budding players at a grassroots level in the field of squash, football and others.

Five one day matches have been scheduled to span the tournament, out of which two have been played. The current score is at 2-0 in favor of Australia. Ahead of the tour, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were in talks with Cricket Australia with a view to playing some of the matches in Pakistan. Such a step would have done wonders for Pakistan’s global image. However, on February 10, 2019, the PCB confirmed the dates of the tour, with all the fixtures taking place in the UAE.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, Pakistan’s running captain, was asked to rest ahead of the 2019 Cricket World Cup, and Shoaib Malik was named as the captain of the squad for the time being. This tournament marked the ODI debuts of Mohammad Abbas, Mohammad Hasnain, and Shan Masood; it also marked Haris Sohail’s and Mohammad Rizwan’s first century in ODIs. Up till now, Aaron Finch from Australia has been named Player of the match for both the matches played – adding to his already star-studded track record.

Staying true to their role beyond business, JS Bank has supported the revival of sports in Pakistan through partnerships with leading athletic institutions, including Islamabad United for PSL. The Bank has also launched its own program titled ‘Future World Champions’ which aims to nurture the growth of budding players at a grassroots level in the field of squash, football and others.
