Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested ASI Gujranwala after he was caught on video physically assaulting a young girl at a police station.
A Twitter user had shared the link to the video on his Twitter account, alerting the authorities of the merciless physical torture of the girl at the hands of the ASI in Gujranwala’s Gmagnolia Police Station Saddar.
The video showed girl yelling out in pain due to physical abuse by ASI. The ASI hit her on her face and even pulled her hair, according to the viral video.

Punjab Police immediately took the notice of the incident and arrested the ASI. Meanwhile, the Focal Person to Chief Minister Punjab, Azhar Mashwani, also confirmed the reports of action being taken against the ASI. Mashwani, in a tweet, informed that Punjab Police swiftly acted upon the orders of CM Punjab Usman Buzdar.

The Government of Punjab also issued an official statement on the issue on Twitter today. “Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar has demanded immediate report from RPO Gujranwala on the incident of violence against a woman police chief in Gujranwala.”

“Strict legal and departmental action should be taken. The police chief was arrested and an FIR was registered,” said a statement on the GOP Twitter account.
