Priyanka Chopra mocked for comments on connection to Islam

The actress revealed that she has been in touch with different religions when asked about her connection to spirituality.

Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra, is being mocked on social media following her remarks on her connection to Islam in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The actress revealed that she has been in touch with different religions when asked about her connection to spirituality.

The actress explained that “I think I did. In India, it is hard not to. You’re right. With the swirling number of religions that we have, that live within the country as well.”

“I grew up in a convent school. I was aware of Christianity. My dad used to sing in a mosque, I was aware of Islam. I grew up in a Hindu family, I was aware of that. Spirituality is such a large part of India that you really cannot ignore it,” she said.

Adding that her father ensured that she grows up in an environment that is tolerant and acceptable to all religions.

“I am a Hindu. I pray I have a temple at my home, I do it as often as I can. But true to me, I am a believer that a higher power does exist and I like to have faith in that,” said the actress in the interview.

Her comments of ‘singing in the mosque’ did not go well with social media users in Pakistan. Not only they trolled the actress but also corrected Chopra that about the religious restrictions of singing in the mosque.

A lot of social media users posted hilarious comments and memes on Priyanka Chopra. However, this is not the first time when Priyanka Chopra has been heavily discussed on Pakistani social media.

Earlier she was criticized for passing irresponsible comments on the war between India and Pakistan. An intense social media campaign was run against her demanding her to apologize and remove her from the post of being the goodwill ambassador of the United Nations.
