PTI Leader Accuses Imran Khan of Orchestrating May 9 Riots

During an interview with a private television channel, Dar alleged that the motive behind the May 9 events was to overthrow the army chief, General Asim Munir.

In a startling turn of events, Usman Dar, a former close aide to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, has made explosive revelations regarding the events of May 9. Dar, who recently announced his departure from the PTI, cited the violence on May 9 as the primary reason for his decision.

Explosive Allegations by Former PTI Aide

During an interview with a private television channel, Dar alleged that the motive behind the May 9 events was to overthrow the army chief, General Asim Munir.

This revelation comes after PTI had earlier claimed that Dar had been “abducted.” His brother-in-law filed a petition in the Sindh High Court, which led to a case of his disappearance being registered by the provincial court.

Imran Khan’s Role in the May 9 Violence

Usman Dar directly accused the PTI leadership of orchestrating the violent events on May 9. He claimed that Imran Khan himself had chaired a meeting that devised a “plan of action” in case he was arrested. Dar asserted that in the event of Imran Khan’s arrest, he had ordered the party to target sensitive installations.

Claims of Anti-Military Actions and PTI’s Turbulent State

The former PTI leader went on to accuse Imran Khan of manipulating party workers to thwart his arrest, stating that Khan had “brainwashed” them and used them as human shields.

Usman Dar is the latest in a series of leaders who have left the PTI since the May 9 incidents, joining prominent figures such as Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari, and Pervez Khattak. The aftermath of the May 9 events saw a government crackdown, resulting in the arrest of numerous party workers and leaders, including vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

In response to Dar’s revelations, PTI spokesperson Shoaib Shaheen questioned why Dar had remained silent on the matter until now. He cited Sindh’s interim home minister, who had confirmed Dar’s “arrest” previously.

Shaheen expressed bewilderment over why Dar had not made these allegations earlier if he had done so voluntarily. He reiterated the PTI’s condemnation of the violence that occurred on May 9.

Usman Dar’s claims have sent shockwaves through the political landscape, implicating PTI Chairman Imran Khan in the orchestration of the May 9 riots and the alleged use of violence as a political tool.
