Rahat Fateh Ali Khan: First Asian Singer to Receive Wembley Arena Award

Pakistan's soulful singer, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, adds another feather to his hat, becomes the first Pakistani and Asian singer to receive Wembley Arena Award. The award testifies the colossal success of his artwork globally.

Pakistan’s famous singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has become the first Asian singer to have received Wembley Arena Award. According to details, the singer was honored with the award during his concert in the United Kingdom. The concert was attended by people belonging to different countries including Pakistan and India.

The prestigious Oxford University awarded Asia’s leading Sufi singer Rahat Fateh Ali Khan with an honorary doctorate in a ceremony held at Oxford in June this year.

The University of Oxford had announced in March that Asia’s acclaimed Sufi singer RFAK has been shortlisted, along with eight other dignitaries, for an honorary doctorate.

According to media reports, the university had described Rahat Fateh Ali Khan as “Pakistani singer, primarily of Qawwali, a devotional music of the Muslim Sufis.”

RFAK is the nephew of maestro Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and is an equally celebrated singer both in India and Pakistan. He began his career at the age of three, under the guidance of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, known as the King of Qawwali.

Since then, he has taken on the responsibility of carrying forward his 600-year-old family legacy by touching the hearts and souls of audiences by spreading the magic of qawwali across the globe.

Earlier, a rehearsal hall of the university has also been named after him in 2017. This is the highest honor for any South Asian singer. The music room was named The Rahat Fateh Ali Khan music room.

Previously, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was on a spree of international concerts. His recent musical concerts have been a massive success in the UK, with a mammoth of Pakistani and Indian diaspora flocking to rejoice his enthralling performance.

South Asia’s spectacular singer, RFAK claimed that his concerts were all ‘sold out’ declaring it his spectacular victory.

He was recently invited by Saudi Arabia entertainment authority for his debut concert in the desert country. A mammoth of Pakistani and Indian expatriates attended his concert in Riyadh held last month.
