Ranveer Singh accused of hurting sentiments of women by nude photoshoot

Some called the photoshoot unobjectionable while others called it unproblematic. The complainant has urged the police to register the case against Ranveer Singh.

A police case has been registered against Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh over the charges of hurting the sentiments of women following his nude photoshoot.

Pictures of the actor posing naked for the magazine cover made rounds on social media last week. The cover page of the magazine left his fans and followers shocked that generated a debate on social media. Some called the photoshoot unobjectionable while others called it unproblematic. The complainant has urged the police to register the case against Ranveer Singh.

His nude picture appeared in India’s Paper Magazine. The actor posed on a Turkish rug almost wearing nothing in several photos. The complaint has been submitted by an employee of the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Mumbai. The complainant said that Ranveer has hurt the sentiments of women and insulted their decency. The request has been made to register the case against the actor under the Information Technology Act and other laws in the Indian Penal Code. “We received an application from a person associated with an NGO on Monday. No FIR is registered so far. We are enquiring,” ANI quoted the official as saying.

The backlash began when the actor posted the pictures on his Instagram account. Singh received praise from his fellows who called him ‘brave’ for being himself.

Actress Alia Bhatt also defended the actor. She was asked to comment on the photoshoot of Ranveer Singh at a press conference. Bhatt said she could not even tolerate a question about the hate he is receiving. “I don’t like anything negative being said about my favorite co-star, Ranveer Singh. So, this question itself is something I can’t tolerate. I love him, he’s eternally favorite to every one of us. And he has given us so much in the movies. We should only give him love.”
