Saudi Police foils attempt to attack Imam during sermon in Grand Mosque

This is not the first time bizarre incident have been reported in the Al-Haram Mosque of Makkah. In later tweets, Haramain Sharifain talked about why security guards accompany the Imams in Haramain.

Saudi Police arrested man attempting to attack the Imam during the Friday prayers in the Grand Mosque of Makkah. The video released on social media showed the man tried to reach the pulpit during the Friday sermon.

“Disciplinary procedures have been taken with him,” the official added without details.

The video of the man was released on the official Twitter account of Haramain Sharifain showed the man dressed in Umrah attire tried to reach the pulpit where the Imam was delivering the sermon.

“An incident took place earlier today when a man in Ihram attempted to enter the minbar of Masjid Al Haram, Makkah while Sheikh Baleelah was delivering the Khutbah, the man was apprehended by Public Security Officials immediately and has been taken into custody,” said Haramain Sharifain while reporting the incident on Twitter.

This is not the first time bizarre incident have been reported in the Al-Haram Mosque of Makkah.

In later tweets, Haramain Sharifain talked about why security guards accompany the Imams in Haramain.

They reported four incidents in which the renowned Imams escaped assassination attempts while leading the prayers in Grand Mosque of Makkah.

Back in October, a video of a car ramming into the outer door of the Grand Mosque in Makkah went viral on social media. The video shows the car driver plowed through the plastic barricades placed in the outer courtyard of the mosque, however, the incident caused no casualties, reported the Saudi newspaper Okaz.

Other videos posted on social media showed several people pushed the vehicle away from the Gate 89 of the Grand Mosque. It is said that driver, a Saudi citizen has been arrested and referred to the public prosecutor for questioning. The publication reported that the driver was in an abnormal condition, and the incident happened due to drifting at high speed at the nearby southern square.
