Sheikh Rasheed’s unique suggestion to Asif Zardari for Bilawal Bhutto

While addressing the claim that Bilawal Bhutto is considered the future politics, Sheikh Rasheed recalled his meeting with Asif Zardari in 2011 and the advice he gave him on the occasion. Sheikh Rasheed said he still stands by his advice.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed thinks PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto should take a back seat from politics. In fact, Sheikh Rasheed made the suggestion to PPP President Asif Ali Zardari many years ago.

Sheikh Rasheed recalled his advice to Zardari while talking on a show for a private media channel. During the show, the talk turned to PM Khan awarding certificates to top-performing ministers.

Relating to this, the talk show host asked Sheikh Rasheed how would he mark the Opposition’s performance. In response, Sheikh Rasheed made a dig at the Opposition. He said they would be competing on the grounds of being disqualified.

“The Opposition is playing in teams,” Sheikh Rasheed said. He then listed the father-son duos of Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza, Asif Zardari and Bilawal, and Maulana Fazl and Asad. He also mentioned Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz.

While addressing the claim that Bilawal Bhutto is considered the future politics, Sheikh Rasheed recalled his meeting with Asif Zardari and the advice he gave him on the occasion.

Keep Bilawal at home: Sheikh Rasheed

In 2011, Sheikh Rasheed visited Asif Zardari to pay condolences for his father’s death. During the meeting, Zardari asked for Sheikh Rasheed’s advice to which Sheikh Rasheed told Zardari to keep Bilawal at home and bring his daughter Asifa Zardari at the front.

Recalling this, Sheikh Rasheed said he still stands by his advice since PPP would have fared much better if it had a different leader. Important to note, the PPP-led Sindh government often comes under fire for the province’s dire condition despite being in governance for 13 years.

“Bilawal Bhutto should be kept hidden at home,” Sheikh Rasheed said.

To clarify, on Thursday, PM Khan presented certificates of appreciation to 10 ministers at a ceremony held at the federal capital. Minister Murad Saeed bagged the top spot, while Minister Asad Umar and Dr. Sania Nishtar came second and third, respectively.

Other ministers who received the certificate of appreciation were Federal Minister for Industries & Production Khusro Bakhtyar, National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf, and Adviser for Commerce Abdul Razzak Dawood. Furthermore, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, Federal Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari, and Federal Minister for Food Security and Research also received the certificates.

Needless to say, PM Khan’s decision to award appreciation certificates did not sit well with the Opposition. Bilawal claimed that PM Khan awarded ‘best performance’ certificates to only 10 ‘blue-eyed’ federal ministers.
