South Punjab to get first Amazon Center (AFFC) after Eid

South Punjab’s first Amazon Fulfillment and Facilitation Center (AFFC) is all set to be inaugurated in Multan after Eid-ul-Azha revealed a top-level government official.

Post Master General (PMG) Zulfiqar Husnain said that the government has made untiring efforts to get Pakistani products access to Amazon, and Pakistan Post was working relentlessly to achieve the target.

He added that Pakistan Post is fully prepared to take advantage of the opportunity provided by Amazon and the department is all set to transport sellers’ consignments from their doorstep to different Amazon warehouses in the world.

The PMG said that most of the work has been completed on the AFFC at the general post office Dera Adda and it would become functional after Eid-ul-Azha.

An Amazon warehouse would also be established there to come up to the expectations of Amazon. The work was also in progress to set up Amazon centres with warehouses in Bahawalpur and other districts of South Punjab.

“Multan officials were in contact with Multan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) to ensure that handmade products of South Punjab become an identity of Pakistan on Amazon portal and ensure that local exporters, industrialists and traders also avail the world’s largest online retail platform after registration.”

He said it was the world’s biggest market portal, and a made-in-Pakistan signature would be a significant success for the government. The initiative would not only bring much needed foreign exchange earnings, but would also improve Pakistan Post revenue, the PMG said.

Amazon enters Pakistan

Earlier on May 6 it was announced by Prime Minister’s Advisor on Commerce and Investment, Abdul Razak Dawood that the world’s most sought after American multinational technology company has finally added Pakistan to its approved selling countries list.

Pakistan has received approval from Amazon to Register Pakistan in the verified Amazon seller list, Adviser to Prime Minister of Pakistan for Commerce and Investment Abdul Razak Dawood announced.

Razak Dawood said it is a great opportunity for Pakistani youth, SMEs and women entrepreneurs. The adviser said that they have been working on this with Amazon since last year and now it’s happening.

Ever since, a renewed list of the approved selling countries list was issued on Amazon’s official website and Pakistan was included for the first time.

This is being seen as a massive achievement for Pakistan’s e-commerce sector as Pakistani products will now be available to millions of consumers globally. Amazon is known as “one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world”. It was founded by Jeff Bezos on July 5, 1994. It is also a part of the list of the Big Four technology companies, along with Google, Apple, and Facebook.
