The silent revolution of Imran Khan

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has again called for an early national election after his party seized control of the state assembly in Punjab, the country’s most populous province. Twenty seats were up for grabs in the Punjab by-election, which was seen as a popularity test for the former international cricket star dismissed by a no-confidence vote in April.

While addressing a function arranged by Famous Indian Actress Sharmila Tagore to commemorate her husband Late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the Nawab of Pataudi and Bhopal and Captain of the Indian Cricket team, I heard Imran Khan lecturing on leadership qualities there. And the foremost quality of a successful leader, as he mentioned, was the ability how to assess from failures and then go forward.

Imran Khan said that if an international sportsman pursues a university education, it’s a feat achieved by very few. Since he had both and so did the great Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, both led a successful life. IK succeeds and fails many times in his cricketing and political career and overall emerges as a successful leader that, in the end, matters the most.

I am writing this preface while PTI has swept away the by-election of the Punjab province today and his comeback is imminent God Willing, to rule the country of poor masses.

Changing the Society

Since politics affects society wholly while cricket only provides entertainment, hence the life-changing career of politics demands a real re-assessment which should be immediate as IK is already 70 now.

Is attaining the post of Prime Minister or in other words, forming an executive arm of the state enough to bring about the welfare he always dreams of. To quote from his speeches, he says that somebody tried to defame his wife for which he, as a Prime Minister, went to the court of law but 3 years on and nothing happened. Even his government introduced a law against excesses of media which was struck down by the court as the Defamation Laws were already there.

It means the law is already here but the courts hardly reach any verdict based on such law. And so is the story of all excesses that are brought to the courts of law but never attended to their finality. PTI was formed to bring justice in all its forms.

The dictatorial states of the Middle East are successfully run, despite no democratic elections there, through a strong judicial system that does never spare any criminals.

The Project Of The Millenium

This very problem, no decision on court cases for years, is the mother of all vices. There are 21 lacs pending cases in our courts. Hence Judges are the key to all the solutions we need. Imran Khan has already spent 3.5 years as Prime Minister and the next 5 years won’t make much difference unless he undertakes to get the backlog of 21 lacs court cases cleared by honorable judges as a project of the Millineum.

This will deter all power centers to never indulging in any unlawful activity. This will also punish the corruption which Khan has been pleading for day and night. A strong and robust judicial system will never allow the corrupt to head political parties.

Potential of Judges

As pointed out by Dr. Moeed Pirzada, we have seen the potential and honest will of judges among different ranks, while hearing the cases of Imran Riaz Khan a journalist who was implicated in dozens of cases on political grounds.

I firmly believe it’s the judges and not the generals who can change the course of history for Pakistan since Imran Khan has motivated the silent majority to support any revolutionary step unhindered.
