Pakistani pacer, Hasan Ali, opens up on dropping a crucial catch in the ICC T20I semi-final match against Australia.

Pakistan had set the target of 175 runs to chase for Australia. The men in green had nearly outplayed Australia until Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoins turned the match for Australia. Wade scored 41 runs off 17 deliveries. Hasan Ali missed a crucial opportunity to end his innings and turn the table for Pakistan in the match against Australia.

Shaheen Shah Afridi also failed to contain the Australian batters and resultantly the Pakistan Cricket team lost the match. Following the match, the angry, upset, and disappointed fans lambasted Hasan Ali for dropping a catch. Netizens believed that had Hasan Ali caught the catch, Pakistan would have won the semifinal.

In his latest interview, Hasan Ali shed light on the days after the semifinal. The cricketer said he was not able to sleep for days.

A moment difficult to forget

“It was the tough moment of my career and it was quite difficult for me to forget. I haven’t revealed this to anyone until now but I didn’t sleep for two days, my wife was with me and she was tense as I was not sleeping,” said Hasan Ali.

“I was quiet and sitting at the side as the dropped catch was appearing in my mind continuously but while traveling to Bangladesh I told myself that I should move on,” he added.

He said that he was joined by Shaheen Shah Afridi as he too conceded 22 runs in the last over. “All my teammates are aware of how I approach the games and that I don’t take the matches lightly. I prepare well and I always try to perform for Pakistan. After the match, I was crying and so was Shaheen; it was an extremely sad moment,” revealed Hasan.

“Shoaib Bhai came to me and told me that you are a tiger and that I shouldn’t fall. In addition to that, I also received a lot of support on social media which helped me ease through the pain,” added Hasan.
