PML-N president Mian Shahbaz Sharif has said they are not scared of jails adding welcoming Nawaz Sharif is their legal and constitutional right. “We are not scared of jails. Welcoming Nawaz Sharif is our legal and constitutional right”, he said while talking to a private TV channel.
He stated he himself would go to the airport along with party workers to welcome Nawaz Sharif. The workers would not cause any damage to government property during the reception.
“We will welcome Nawaz Sharif in a peaceful manner. On the other hand, massive arrests of workers are raising the question on the transparency of election. I will not sit mute over the arrests of workers”, he announced.
He remarked, transparent polls are need of the hour and all parties should be provided level playing field in launching election campaign. Election commission should take notice of PML-N workers arrest, he demanded.
Shahbaz Sharif, who is already under pressure due to lingering corruption investigations and the increasing popularity of Imran Khan is expected to cash his elder brother’s return to the country by gaining sympathy vote. It is expected that PML-N supporters would turn up in huge numbers and make it difficult for the authorities to apprehend the convicts in Avenfield reference.
However, PML-N leaders must realize that security agencies have already warned of terrorist attacks before the upcoming general elections. Large gathering are a favorite target for anti-state elements who would want to cause maximum casualties and gain media attention. Any unwanted incident may cause unrest in the country which it cannot afford.
