A case has been registered against hurling ink and eggs at the SAPM on Political Communication Dr. Shahbaz Gill at the Lahore High Court. The case has been registered at the Old Anarkali police station on the complaint of DSP Absar Ahmed.

As per the complaint, Shahbaz Gill parked his vehicle and took a route towards the court on foot as cops posted on his security encircled him.

“Around eight to 10 people in the guise of journalists attacked Shahbaz Gill on the stairs of the court, and hurled eggs on him, which was intercepted by policemen holding umbrellas,” the FIR said adding that one man hurled ink on the face of the SAPM.

The FIR further said that the police tried to arrest the attackers, who put up stiff resistance. “However, the police arrested three people identified as Muhammad Ateeq, Tariq Junaid and Ghulam Abbas from the scene,” the complaint said further saying that Ghulam Abbas sustained injuries after he fell while trying to run away.

The report further termed the entire episode as planned saying that the accused attacked Shahbaz Gill with an aim to hurt him.

It is pertinent to mention here that PML-N workers hurled ink at the SAPM on the premises of the Lahore High Court (LHC) where he arrived to appear in a case. They also tried to throw eggs at him but PTI workers present there thwarted the bid and thrashed the attackers.

Later, Dr Shahbaz Gill said that PML-N workers threw ink in his eye which has caused infection due to chemicals present in ink.

It may be recalled here that Shahbaz Gill was also heckled by the PML-N workers some time before. But it was confined only to a volley of sloganeering against him and his party at that time. The occasion was Mr Gill’s appearance at the Judicial Complex in connection with hearing of a defamation suit filed against him by a Turkish company.

In his media talk after the incident, Gill described the incident as “hooliganism” and likened the black ink thrown at him with the alleged ‘black deeds’ of the Opposition. According to him, Maryam Nawaz was the mastermind of the whole affair.

“I am not scared and quite fine. Please go and tell Maryam Nawaz”, he said, adding that he had prior knowledge of the attack which had been planned in advance. He said he came here despite warnings by different quarters. An hour before the incident, Shahbaz Gill had also tweeted: “Will be presenting myself before the honorable judges at the Lahore High Court at 2:00 pm today. I have learnt from some journalist friends that the PML-N Ghunda (hooligan) group has prepared to attack me. I am Imran Khan’s soldier- I will not be intimidated and will arrive at the court. I believe in politics, not ghunda gardi.”
