“Balochistan hasn’t changed much since we left.”- Zardari
The Co-chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Asif Ali Zardari, criticized the PML (N) lead government on its failure of bringing the issues of terrorism and Kashmir to the international community’s attention.
Asif Ali Zardari explained that the government has been unable in bringing several issues to desk. “The federal government’s neglectfulness can be gauged by the fact that it failed to appoint a foreign minister in the last four years,” he further added.
The ex-president further stated that “India has enhanced its influence in Afghanistan creating problems for Pakistan, but our government is tight-lipped about it.” The leader emphasized that the government had failed to deliver to its people, as the conditions of the country have not improved ever since the PPP’s regime.
The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has been of considerable importance to not just the PML (N) government but to the nation as a whole. Zardari however, claims that the CPEC had been initiated under his authority. The province of Baluchistan is expected to hold immense importance for the government of Pakistan as, it is one of the key sites of the CPEC route.
“In its original draft, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Baluchistan were given more benefits than the other provinces, but the plan has now been altered giving the lion’s share to one province only, Punjab,” he expressed.
Over the past several months, around 24,000 Baloch activists have been reported missing, while, thousands have lost their lives. The Balochi nationalists have been keen about fighting against the Pakistani government. The co-chairman of PPP has in this regard, emphasized that apart from the inability of the government in catering to some potential issues, the PML (N) government has also been unsuccessful in catering to the issues concerning the Balochi people.
