6 official visits equal 1 private visit: Difference between PTI & PML-N government

News Desk |

Another revelation of extravagance spending of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif shows that whopping amount of $327,927.45 (45.5 million rupees) on his medical treatment was spent that too from national exchequer. On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan’s six foreign trips undertaken from September 18 to Nov 20 cost the national exchequer Rs40.381 million.

The break of the PM Khan’s visit expenditure shows that two visits to Saudi Arabia cost Rs 3.96 million, two visits to Abu Dhabi Rs 4.3 million, 5-days trip to China 24.4 million and visit to Malaysia cost Rs 7.5 million. Whereas, Nawaz Sharif spent 45.5 million rupees on a private visit to the UK.

It is not about how much selling the cows and vehicle saved; it shows the sincerity of the government and promise of spending the tax money of citizens on their own welfare instead of wasting it on personal needless expenditures.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi informed the National Assembly that Mr. Sharif stayed in the UK from May 22 to July 9, 2016, for his heart surgery. Ministry of foreign affairs informed the National Assembly session in written that the former prime minister had gone to London by a special aircraft.

“After his medical treatment, a special aircraft arrived in London in July 2016 and departed back the same day with the former prime minister,” Mr. Qureshi said.

According to the details, for a stay of around 1 and a half month, almost 4 million rupees was spent on meals arrangement, 4 million rupees on the hiring of transport, 4.1million rupees on daily allowances for delegations, 0.5 million rupees on renting of mobile phones and 24 million rupees on hotel accommodation. Aircraft charges mentioned by the ministry were 7.8 million rupees.

This latest discovery of yet another lavish lifestyle practice enjoyed at the expense of taxpayers had been the norm of previous governments. If not a corruption, what else that would be! And the member of the same political party has been criticizing the Prime Minister Imran Khan’s austerity drive.

It is not about how much selling the cows and vehicle saved; it shows the sincerity of the government and promise of spending the tax money of citizens on their own welfare instead of wasting it on personal needless expenditures.

On one side, there were rulers who exploited the national exchequer as much as they could and on the other, PTI-led government is setting a new precedent of saving as much as they can; hence, the hope of change in the nation.
