The sisters of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, Noreen Niazi and Uzma Khan, have been detained under Section 3 of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) Ordinance, 1960, an official said on Monday.

The detention orders were issued by the Lahore deputy commissioner following a recommendation from the police, according to the DC Office.

Both sisters have been detained for 30 days and were subsequently shifted to Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
Detentions follow Aleema Khan’s arrest
The development comes a day after another of Imran Khan’s sisters, Aleema Khan, was detained and transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
Aleema was reportedly taken into custody on Sunday while she was on her way to a gym in Lahore. Noreen had told Geo News that Aleema was detained while leaving her home and that she had been informed she would be taken to Kot Lakhpat Jail.

“I do not know why they are so worried that they are arresting women as well,” Noreen said at the time.
Following their detention, Noreen and Uzma were also transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail, where Aleema is being held.
Aleema’s sons briefly detained
Sources had earlier reported that Aleema’s two sons, Shahrez Khan and Sher Shah, were also taken into custody in Lahore.
However, their lawyer, Rana Mudassir, later confirmed that both were released after being briefly detained.
Mudassir also said Noreen and Uzma were transferred to Kot Lakhpat Jail at around 2am.
PTI plans nationwide protest
The arrests come ahead of PTI’s planned nationwide protest and long march towards Islamabad on September 27.
The party has said the protest is aimed at demanding the release of Imran Khan, who remains incarcerated at Adiala Jail, and the supremacy of the Constitution.
PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan condemned Aleema’s detention, describing it as “the first step towards worsening the situation.”
Gohar said the party had consistently stated that its planned march would remain peaceful and political.

“We have always made it clear that our march will be peaceful and political,” he said, adding that PTI intended to pursue its constitutional and political demands through peaceful means.
“We do not want any kind of confrontation or violence,” he added.
