Celebrities express solidarity with Salman Khan

A large number of celebrities from India and Pakistan have expressed their disappointment after Salman Khan was convicted in the blackbuck poaching case. The court convicted Salman Khan, awarding him five years of imprisonment and fined him Rs. 10,000. Salman Khan was arrested from the courtroom and was shifted to the Jodhpur Central Jail.

His conviction has upset the celebrities from India and Pakistan as they expressed their solidarity with ‘Dabangg’ actor. Jaya Bachchan, while addressing the media, appealed courts to reduce Salman Khan’s sentence exerting that he is a true humanitarian.

According to media reports, emotional scenes were witnessed in the courtroom as his sisters Alvira and Arpita cried when Salman Khan was being arrested from the courtroom. Celebrities from Indian film industry reached his home, including his co-actor from ‘ ‘Dabang’ Sonakshi Sinha, to express their solidarity with the actor and his family.

Yesterday, social media was abuzz with condemnation tweets and posts. His colleagues and friends from within the industry called the decision unfair on a case that dates back to 1998. However they were hopeful that the Indian judiciary will provide justice to the actor as there are many doors available for the actor to make an appeal against the sentence.

Pakistani actor Humaima Malik and Mawra Hocane, too, expressed their solidarity with the actor and remarked that Salman Khan despite hunting the animal has done immense humanitarian work.

A Pakistani minister on Thursday claimed that Bollywood actor Salman Khan was convicted by a Jodhpur court because of his minority status. Stating that had Khan belonged to the “religion of the ruling party,” Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif said “the court might have been lenient with him.”

Also, his mates from the Indian entertainment industry said that Salman Khan was actively involved in humanitarian work and charity. He brought relief to many distressed individuals. He should be respected and honored for his humanitarian work.

Trade Analyst Komal Mehta has concerns  for the shooting of ‘Race 3′ as only three to four days are left in the completion of the movie.

“If he doesn’t get bail, it’ll be a huge loss. There are only a few superstars who guarantee not just success, but big success,”

“The immediate concern is ‘Race 3’, being filmed for Rs 125 crore. Only four or five days of shoot is left.” The film is slated for an Eid release on June 14.
