Parvez Elahi – the new CM Punjab
President Dr Arif Alvi on late Tuesday administered the oath of office to Chaudhry Parvez Elahi after the Supreme Court declared him the Chief Minister of Punjab, striking down the deputy speaker’s ruling on the election which made PML-N’s Hamza Shehbaz lose his status of the “trustee” chief minister.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Aiwan-e-Sadr late at night and attended by the leadership of PML-Q and PTI. Parvez Elahi has been elected as chief executive of the province for the second time. Earlier, he was elected as the Punjab chief minister in 2002. He has also served as deputy prime minister in 2011.
