The Indian cricket team was slammed on social media as netizens fumed in anger after India’s alleged defeat against England on Sunday in a crucial ICC World Cup match.
The Indian cricketing legends, including cricket fans from India and Pakistan, expressed their bafflement on social media on India’s loss against England. Pakistani netizens feel that the Indian cricket team deliberately lost the match against England to thwart Pakistan’s qualification for the semi-finals.
Pakistan and England had a close contest on the point table to qualify as the fourth team for the semi-finals and edged out England with 9 points after its victory over Afghanistan. England dropped to 5th position with 8 points; however, they had a better run-rate than Pakistan. For England to qualify for the semi-finals it had to beat India in yesterday’s match.
India’s current and former skipper, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni are receiving flak on social media for not even ‘trying’ to win.
England set a huge target of 338 runs for India. The batting line up of the unbeatable Indian team crumbled in the second-innings, which paved way for England’s victory and also for its qualification for semi-finals.
The Pakistani netizens believe that India has conspired against Pakistan and deliberately lost the match. Pakistani cricket analyst, Basit Ali had speculated that India might lose its remaining matches to obstruct Pakistan’s entry into the next stage of the mega cricketing event.
Some passionate Pakistani cricket fans even grooved for India’s win in yesterday’s match which according to Indian skipper Virat Kohli is rare for any Pakistani fan.
