Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that while he is signing deals with Turkey for the country’s benefit, PTI Chairman Imran Khan is making “naked threats” to the country. “While I am in Turkey inking agreements, Imran Niazi is making naked threats against the country. If at all any proof was needed that Niazi is unfit for public office, his latest interview suffices. Do your politics but don’t dare to cross limits & talk about the division of Pakistan,” the premier hit back.

Imran Khan’s latest interview

PTI Chairman Imran Khan in an interview with anchorperson Sami Ibrahim for Bol News program Tajzia warned that the establishment and the army [before anyone else] will be destroyed if the establishment doesn’t take the right decisions.

“The actual problem here is of Pakistan and the establishment. If the establishment does not take the right decision, then I will give it to you in writing that they will be destroyed, and the armed forces will be the first ones to be destroyed,” Imran Khan said.

Needless to say, his statement caused quite the storm in Pakistan. The PDM coalition came out condemning Imran Khan’s statement. PPP co-chairperson Asif Ali Zardari said, “No one can talk about fragmenting Pakistan. This is not that language of a Pakistani but that of [Indian PM] Modi.”

Meanwhile, Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique demanded Imran Khan to elaborate on what right decisions the “army” needed to make.

Moreover, Imran Khan said the country would go towards civil war if elections were not announced, adding that there was “no question” of returning to the National Assembly. He said it would mean that he accepted the “conspiracy” that had removed his government.
