Dr. Moeed Pirzada likely to be arrested, claims Raja Aamir Abbas

Lawyer and activist Raja Aamir Abbas claims says another senior anchorperson Moeed Pirzada is likely to be arrested.

Raja Aamir Abbas shared the picture with Dr. Moeed Pirzada on his Twitter account on Monday. Abbas said that Moeed Pirzada had reached out to him to get a pre-arrest bail. “Just now Dr. Moeed Pirzada came and told that they are also preparing to arrest him Immediate recourse to Islamabad High Court,” said Raja Aamir Abbas in a Twitter.

Earlier, On Sunday, Anchorperson Imran Riaz Khan was booked under sedition charges in Thatta, Sindh. The complainant is identified as the Aashiq Ali Qureshi, a gutka seller. Qureshi has a shady criminal record.

Offenses on Imran Riaz Khan include Section 131 (incitement to mutiny); 153 (provoking to cause riot); 452 (trespassing) and 505 (statement conducing to public mischief) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

Meanwhile, Raja Aamir Abbas is also representing another anchorperson Arshad Sharif in the cases filed against him. Islamabad High Court has taken up the case of the protective bail of Arshad Sharif in cases filed against him in several cities of Pakistan in the past couple of days.

Islamabad High Court had passed an interim order on late Saturday night. IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah had granted protective bail to Mr. Sharif. Arshad Sharif like a few other journalists is accused of spreading hate against army and state institutions.

He has been booked under Section 131 (incitement to mutiny);153 (provoking to cause riot) under Pakistan Penal Code. Two FIRs have been lodged against him in Dadu and Latifabad, Hyderabad.
