In a remarkable effort, Frontier Works Organization (FWO) helped clear Murree Expressway. FWO brought in heavy machinery and bulldozers to remove the snow from the roads, allowing safe evacuation.
Earlier today, 21 people died in Murree as heavy snow trapped them in their vehicles. The tragedy occurred as tens of thousands of visitors thronged Murree to enjoy the snowfall. However, the extreme weather stranded the tourists and their vehicles.
The government immediately announced an emergency situation and mobilized all authorities for a rescue operation. The federal government called on five platoons of the Pakistan Army, including the Rangers and Frontier Corps for evacuation.
As a result, FWO also sprung into action and is quickly clearing roads. According to updates, FWO successfully cleared Murree Expressway and Jhika Gali-Gharial Road. Troops are opening roads at Bahara Kahu and providing necessary food items to the masses.
