IHC orders immediate release of Shireen Mazari

IHC Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the plea filed by PTI leaders’ councils and after hearing arguments he issued the release of Dr Shireen Mazari.

In a major relief for PTI, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) has ordered the release of Senior Vice President Dr Shireen Mazari who was arrested from her residence in Islamabad four days ago.

According to the details, the decision was announced by IHC judge, Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb who ordered the release of Dr Shireen Mazari. IHC Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb heard the plea filed by PTI leaders’ councils and after hearing arguments he issued the aforementioned verdict.

Furthermore, IHC also ordered the release of PTI senator Falak Naz Chitrali who too was arrested as the crackdown was launched against PTI leaders and workers for the protests that took place in Pakistan after Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest.

The IHC termed PTI leaders Shireen Mazari and Senator Falak Naz’s detention as ‘unlawful’ and ordered authorities concerned to release them immediately.

Shireen Mazari was arrested from her residence in Islamabad in the wee hours of Friday. According to the details by Iman Mazari, Shireen Mazari’s daughter, around 50 policemen raided their house and arrested her mother. Iman also claimed that the doors of their house were broken by the policemen.

The PTI leader has been shifted to Abpara police station. Video of her arrest was also shared on social media, showing Shireen Mazari being escorted by female police officers.

Shireen Mazari’s arrest came after a series of arrests of several other PTI leaders, including Imran Khan, Asad Umar, Fawad Chaudhry, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Ali Mohammad Khan, and Senator Ejaz Chaudhry. All of these leaders other than Imran Khan were arrested under section three of the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

Following the arrest of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, protests erupted across the country as PTI supporters took to the streets, clashing with the police and attacking state property.
