Imran Khan seeks help from US Congresswoman in new audio leak

The former Pakistani prime minister can allegedly be heard asking for help from a senior US politician amid an ongoing crackdown on his party following May 9 riots.

In a major development, a new audio of PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has surfaced online. This time, the audio clip purportedly features Imran Khan and US Congresswoman Maxine Waters.

In the recording of the purported Zoom meeting, the former Pakistani prime minister can allegedly be heard asking for help from a senior US politician amid an ongoing crackdown on his party following May 9 riots.

“We are going through difficult times in Pakistan right now and my life is also in danger,” Imran Khan said in the alleged audio. Imran Khan could also be heard telling US congresswoman about the removal of his government by ex-army chief Gen (r) Bajwa.

Furthermore, Imran Khan could be heard asking the US Congresswoman to make a statement and raise her voice against the dire political circumstances in Pakistan as such statements “go a long way”. Imran Khan also asked the Congresswoman to confirm his narrative.

Lately, Pakistan is witnessing a slew of audio leaks featuring prominent political leaders. Earlier, alleged audio of PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry surfaced on social media. Before that PTI leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid came into the spotlight after her audio with Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) went viral.

Similarly, audio clips of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, PML-N Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz, former Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin, and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif among others have also gone viral.

The frequent audio leaks have raised concern for Pakistan’s cyber security. Interestingly, most of the audios were leaked from the Prime Minister’s Office.

Currently, questions are being raised over Imran Khan’s recent audio leak with the US Congresswoman, especially since the former premier has been very critical of his political opponents’ alleged appeasement of the US.
