Imran Khan to sue ECP Chairman for Rs 10bn

Imran Khan announced that he will be sending a Rs. 10 billion defamation notice to Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja for taking his name in the Toshkhana reference.

PTI Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan has announced that he will file an Rs10 billion defamation case against the chief election commissioner (CEC) of Pakistan, Sikandar Sultan Raja.

The PTI long march is on its fourth day with the march resuming from Kamoke. While addressing PTI supporters, Imran Khan lambasted the CEC and accused him of acting like a ‘servant’ of the Sharif family.

He announced that he will be sending a Rs. 10 billion defamation notice to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja for taking his name in the Toshkhana reference. He also said that he will donate the money to Shaukat Khanum Hospital.

“Sikandar Sultan I will get the money for the damages from you,” Imran Khan said.

“I will pay the damages that I win to the [Shaukat Khanum] Hospital. Sikander Sultan, you raised a question on my integrity,” Imran Khan further added.

PTI chief and former prime minister Imran Khan had earlier announced that he would file a defamation case against Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja. The former premier made the announcement while speaking to a private news channel.

“I will file a defamation lawsuit against CEC Sikandar Sultan Raja in Toshakhana reference and foreign funding case,” Imran Khan said in an interview and reiterated his demand for free and fair elections in the country under the new ECP chief.

The PTI chairman regretted that the law was different for the powerful and helpless in the country. He underscored the need for the supremacy of law in the country.

Imran Khan has often accused CEC Sikandar of being biased and doing the Sharif family’s bidding. He has also demanded the resignation of CEC on numerous occasions.

Last week, PTI moved a reference before the Supreme Judicial Council against Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja.
