Imran Khan urged to be more careful with his life

Imran Khan's move of leaving the safety of his car and meeting PTI supporters sparked alarm on social media as the former premier had no security protocol.

Fears have racked up once again for Former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s life. It seems as if the PTI Chairman is being rather reckless with his life.

Last night, the Imran Khan made an unannounced visit to the Parade Ground which is the venue of his slated protest against the coalition government and record inflation, on Saturday (today).

Imran Khan stopped at the Parade Ground to oversee the preparations. With no concern for his safety, he also got out of his car to meet his supporters who gathered around him in a crowd.

Needless to say, Imran Khan’s move of leaving the safety of his car and meeting PTI supporters sparked alarm on social media as the former premier had no security protocol. The former Prime Minister is already facing many death threats. Twitter users are urging Imran Khan to be more careful with his life and avoid public interactions without security.

Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has warned of an assassination threat against PTI Chairman Imran Khan. The threat alert issued by CTD’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa wing stated that “terrorists are planning to assassinate Imran Khan, for which they have sought assistance from an assassin in Afghanistan”.

Moreover, the security protocol for Imran Khan has also been reduced. Many PTI leaders have claimed that the incumbent government withdrew police security for Imran Khan despite high alerts for his assassination.

Imran Khan’s life in danger

Imran Khan has vowed to not back down but protest against the incumbent government for the sake of Pakistan and its people. The public has strongly rallied in favor of Imran Khan and continues to reject the PML-N-led government.

Pertinent to mention, Pakistan has already lost a beloved leader through assassination. Former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto too would forgo security protocols to meet her supporters which led to her ultimate death.

The assassination of two-time former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto took place in Rawalpindi on 27 December 2007. Shots were fired at her after a political rally at Liaqat National Bagh. Bhutto was standing through her vehicle’s sunroof to wave at supporters, and fell back inside after three gunshots. A suicide bomb was detonated immediately following the shooting.
