Imran Riaz Khan granted bail, returns home

A week ago, Imran was brought before the court by the police, who requested his physical remand. However, the court decided to place Imran under judicial remand instead, denying the bail plea made by his lawyer.

Anchorperson and digital journalist Imran Riaz Khan has reached home days following the approval of his bail in the Zaman Park attack case.

He was arrested on the accusation of causing vandalism and beating Police officers in the case. Imran Riaz Khan was also arrested by anti-corruption in a case related to the Tharabi Lake acquisition at a lower rate.

A week ago, Imran was brought before the court by the police, who requested his physical remand. However, the court decided to place Imran under judicial remand instead, denying the bail plea made by his lawyer. During the court session, Riaz’s lawyer, Ali Mian Ashfaq, identified numerous flaws in the case, questioning the prosecution’s arguments and highlighting inconsistencies.

Ashfaq raised concerns about the case’s significance, wondering why the police hadn’t been aware of it for eight months. He also emphasized the lack of evidence connecting Riaz to the charges and the absence of any mention of the accused’s involvement in the FIR.

Last month, Imran Riaz Khan was arrested again from his residence in Lahore last night. The news of his arrest went viral on social media. Later on, his family shared the video of his arrest from his house. The CCTV video showed men entering his house in plain clothes.

His friends and family have pleaded details regarding his arrest. However, he was served a notice by FIA to appear in person for investigation on the anti-judiciary campaign on social media on February 23rd, 2024. His arrest came a night before his appearance.

He was earlier arrested for four months and returned home in September 2023. Riaz — a YouTuber and television anchor — was arrested two days after violent protests broke out across the country following PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s arrest on May 9. Khan returned home after remaining in captivity for nearly four months.
