Ittefaq foundry in illegal land occupation: CM Buzdar reveals ill-practices

CM Buzdar in a presser on Thursday in Lahore has mentioned that the Punjab government has set its direction and fixed the targets to be achieved.

Addressing the press conference, CM Buzdar mentioned that through indiscriminate action against illegal land mafia, 759,428 Kanal of land in Punjab had been retrieved during crackdowns in different cities across the province.

Provincial ministers Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan and Raja Basharat besides spokesperson to the chief minister, Dr Shahbaz Gill, were also present on the occasion.

The chief minister said the total cost of the retrieved land added up to trillions of rupees, which was almost equal to the entire development budget of the province.

“The government will protect each and every penny of the people. Those who had illegally benefitted from their influence will be held accountable for their actions,” continued CM Punjab.

Apprising the nation about the illegal practices of previous government, CM Buzdar said that Ittefaq Foundry of Sharif brothers had been in illegal occupation of 240 kanals state land including 71 kanals of the federal government.   

CM also mentioned that the Punjab government had also launched a fresh investigation into the illegal allotment of land in Harbanspura area in Lahore, which was to be canceled way back in 1973. PML-N’s leader Ishaq Dar is one of the accused in the illegal allotment of land worth Rs5 billion.

The chief minister said that state land in Sillanwali tehsil of Sargodha district worth Rs2.5 billion had also been recovered from former federal minister Anwar Aziz Ch, father of PML-N leader Danial Aziz.

Mr. Buzdar stated that the government had canceled the PMLN members’ illegal allotment of rooms in the Punjab House, Islamabad adding that they were liable to pay Rs 63.7 million. The legislators included Senator Asif Kirmani, Senator Pervaiz Rasheed, Senator Mushahidullah, and former MNA Anusha Rehman among others.

CM Buzdar said that Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had recovered land worth Rs 32 billion as well as the case of Rs 2 billion in last three months of PTI’s government in Punjab. The chief minister said that eliminating corruption and retrieving state land from illegal occupation would remain the focus of the PTI government.

Talking about the expenditure of previous government, CM Buzdar said that former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif had declared four residences– Jati Umera, 196-H and 180-H in Model Town and 41-S DHA Lahore– as his camp offices. He claimed that the former CM had deployed over 2000 policemen for his security duty. Mr. Buzdar said that as many as Rs. 55 million were spent by PMLN’s government in Jati Umra under name of security measures.

National Accountability Bureau has already launched an inquiry against the main leadership of PMLN in different housing schemes. Given the figures mentioned by CM Buzdar, it seems in Punjab real estate business was run by land mafia and PMLN.
