In a major development, senior politician Jahangir Khan Tareen has again become active in Pakistan’s political area as he has reportedly opened his political office in Lahore. It seems as Jahangir Tareen’s political revival is seriously in the works.
According to media reports, former lawmakers of PTI from South Punjab, who recently, parted their ways, met Jahangir Tareen in Lahore. Reportedly, more than 20 leaders of the PTI have met the party’s estranged leader Jahangir Khan Tareen within a week.
Amid the backdrop, it is possible that a forward bloc is likely to pull out of the PTI. Pertinent to mention that members of the Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) Group had earlier put forth a proposal of forming a new political party named ‘Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Nazriyati (PTIN) or Haqeeqi Tehreek-e-Insaaf (HTI) to contest in the elections.

The proposal was made during an iftar dinner which was by several members of the dissident PTI groups and leaders. At that time, the plan for the political party was not finalized however, the majority of the JKT Group preferred that an independent party be formed instead of contesting the next elections on PML-N tickets.
Now things seem to be going in Jahangir Tareen’s favor as recently resigned PTI leaders flock to him, making his political revival strong. Currently, PTI is going through a rough patch as members jump ship at an alarming rate after the May 9th protests. Several key PTI figures have called it quits, with the latest being Shireen Mazari.
Pertinent to mention that the names of the 20 important political personalities have not yet been revealed. However, Jahangir Tareen may be ready for a serious political comeback.
The former confidante of PTI Chairman Imran Khan has even started efforts to have his disqualification reversed. If the disqualification is reversed, then Jahangir Tareen will be able to play an important role in the country’s politics.
