‘Karachi is volcano spewing rubbish’: Shaniera Akram close to tears over Clifton beach conditions

She did a series of tweets earlier this year on the dilemma of garbage and improper disposal of waste in the city

Australian-Pakistani influencer Shaniera Akram on Sunday voiced strong words about the garbage situation on Karachi’s Clifton beach in a tweet. She posted a picture of standing on the polluted beach on her Twitter account. The picture showed heaps of plastic bags and garbage littered around the beach.

Akram regretted the lack of cleanliness and apathy of the visitors and the authorities visiting the beach. Akram went on to say that despite repeated alerts sent to the authorities, no worthwhile arrangements have been made to maintain cleanliness on the beach.

“Our city is in pain and it’s telling us every day. We are crying out for help but no body can hear us. This has got to stop! This has bought shame on our city, our people and on our culture. This is not who we are,” wrote Akram in a tweet.
