Maryam Nawaz among the ’11 Most Powerful Women of World’ New York Times met in 2017

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, daughter of ousted Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was placed in the rankings of ’11 most powerful women of 2017′ issued by US publication ‘New York Times’ on Saturday.

The rankings of the publication strives to bring in prominence the women from around the world that have led interesting lives or had done extraordinary things or have gone through life-changing experiences.

The publication describes Maryam Nawaz Sharif as the most suitable and courageous heir to the political empire her father has built in decades.

While news often circulates in media of members of Muslim League Nawaz unhappy with her taking over the leadership position in the party.

She is already known in the political circle as the most influential advisor to her father, Nawaz Sharif.

The publication wrote, “She had recently emerged as the right hand of her father, the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif”.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif is currently facing court cases on the accusation of the purchase of London properties with offshore money revealed in Panama Papers.

The same case of corruption caused her father to get disqualified as Prime Minister of Pakistan and has dragged her and her husband to the courts too.

The 44-year old strong-headed lady is feared to suffer a similar fate at the threshold of her political career.

She may be permanently barred from holding any public office in the future.

The publication describes Maryam Nawaz Sharif as the most suitable and courageous heir to the political empire her father has built in decades.

However, after Nawaz Sharif’s removal from public office, Maryam Nawaz came out defiantly with fierce remarks and adopted an aggressive tone against the top judiciary and the military establishment of the country. Her non-conformist behaviour has massively regressed her popularity graph. While news often circulates in media of members of Muslim League Nawaz unhappy with her taking over the leadership position in the party.

The majority believes her uncle Shehbaz Sharif is the legitimate successor of the party.

However, Maryam Nawaz is nevertheless the emerging face of one of the most dominant political parties of the country, and an expected influential political figure in the near future of Pakistan.
