PPP calls for making Mohsin Dawar a minister

PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari has advised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to give cabinet positions to all the coalition partners in the first phase.

After a week-long delay, the PML-N government is ready to unveil its federal cabinet. There are reports that independent MNA and Chairman of National Democratic Movement (NDM) Mohsin Dawar will also receive a ministry.

The news comes as PPP Co-Chairman Asif Zardari has advised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to give cabinet positions to all the coalition partners in the first phase. Meanwhile, PPP will join the cabinet in the second phase, sources said.

Moreover, leading journalist Imran Khan revealed that PPP is strongly campaigning for making Mohsin Dawar a minister. On the other hand, it is unclear whether the news is confirmed or not. However, Mohsin Dawar has been trending on social media, especially after his fiery speech in parliament. Netizens are of the view that Mohsin Dawar should become either the Defence Minister or the Minister for Human Rights.

Additionally, a few days ago, Mohsin Dawar held a meeting with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, along with a delegation comprising Afrasiyab Khattak, Bushra Gohar and others. They discussed the political situation in Pakistan.

Disagreements?

According to media reports, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had given all-out authority to Mr. Zardari to distribute ministries to any party according to its due share. Before the no-confidence motion, Asif Zardari had promised to give ministries to coalition parties in exchange for support. Therefore, sources claim that he will first fulfill his promises on the distribution of the ministries.

On the other hand, there are reports that JUI-F is not happy with Mohsin Dawar and Awami National Party receiving a ministry. Fazlur Rehman had allegedly voiced his displeasure to Asif Zardari and questioned why two ministries were given to those parties or persons who had contested elections against JUI-F and that they would give a dent to his party in the next elections too.

However, Asif Zardari made it clear that he could not back out of his promises made with the allied parties. Furthermore, there are high chances that PPP will receive seven ministries in the new government.
