Secret Superstar, on its eighth day, has collected Rs. 41.52 crores on the box office. The movie is not a part of Rs 100 crore club but it did a fine business despite being produced with the budget of Rs 15 crore.
Amir Khan and child actor Zaira Waseem collaborated for their second venture in Secret Superstar but the movie did not turn out to be a blockbuster like “Dangal”-their first movie.
The most probable reason identified by the analysts for the movie’s lower than expected business was the release of Secret Superstar that coincided with the release of Rohit Shetty’s vibrant themed comedy movie, “Golmaal Again”.
Certainly, Diwali was not the right time to exhibit to the audiences much serious themed content-based movie.
But the producer cum actor of the movie, Amir Khan, is still satisfied with the appreciation he is receiving from public and media fraternity.
Amir Khan says, “I’m absolutely thrilled with the love and affection our film ‘Secret Superstar’ is getting from all over the world. I’m so proud of Advait. In his first film itself, he has firmly established himself as a first-rate storyteller who successfully knows how to enter the hearts of his audience”.
Also, the lead actor, Zaira Waseem, expressed her solace with the overwhelming response she and her movie is receiving. She says she is an introvert but will not shy away to express her opinion if pushed to do so.
“I don’t understand box office numbers all I know is we are getting good reviews. A great story defines the success of a film. We knew it has a wonderful story but we did not expect this kind of overwhelming response to it.”
“Secret Superstar ” is definitely a beginning for the upcoming actor Zaira Waseem, who will surely uncover new success in the years to come.
