A dentist couple of Chinese descent, Dr. Richard Hu and his wife Phen Teyin, were critically injured on September 28 when a masked man posing as a patient entered their clinic in the busy commercial area of Saddar and began firing randomly at them. Richard Hu was killed in the incident.

A day after the attack, the police filed a complaint against the illegal Sindhudesh People’s Army, which is said to be a confederation of separatist groups from Sindh and Baloch.

The suspect was detained in a targeted operation with the aid of “sensitive agencies,” according to a CTD statement released today. The suspect is connected to the Sindh People’s Army, an offshoot of the illegal Sindh Revolutionary Army (SRA).

However, the statement omitted naming the location of the operation.

With the help of intelligence authorities, the CTD said in a statement today that it had carefully scrutinised the footprint of the terrorists and had analysed the video from closed-circuit TV cameras placed at the crime site.

The statement said that in the most recent development, CTD squad was able to track terrorist, identified as Waqar Khushik, with the use of cutting-edge technology and informants and ultimately apprehended him.

The motorbike that was utilised in the incident was also purportedly found by the CTD. It said that the squads had been formed to capture the suspect’s collaborators and claimed that a guy by the name of Zulfikar Khaskheli had given the suspect the mission.

According to the statement, the apprehended suspect is still being questioned as detectives gather pertinent information about him from several police stations.
