Taimur Khan Jhagra’s dig at Maryam Nawaz’s calculation called ‘sexist’

A section of social media linked Taimur Khan Jhagra’s statement with the body measurement of women and labeled it as sexist and misogynistic.

PTI’s Taimur Khan Jhagra received backlash after he commented the survey calculation of Maryam Nawaz on the PMLN’s Twitter post. PMLN had tweeted “4-3” while sharing the screenshot of a news channel on the suo moto case taken up by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandiyal.

Commenting on the post, Jhagra said “Are you sure you don’t mean 38-36-36?”. His response referred to the mathematical calculation by PMLN leader Maryam Nawaz on the popularity of PMLN leaders in the Gallup Survey.

A section of social media linked Taimur Khan Jhagra’s statement with the body measurement of women and labeled it as sexist and misogynistic.

Social media users abused Jhagra as a filthy man. Some urged him to delete the post.

The backlash triggered a debate among PTI and anti-PTI followers. PTI supporters re-shared the clip of Maryam Nawaz’s interview in which she said that the independent popularity of PMLN leaders stands at 38%, 36%, and 36% in the survey. Hence, if we add up the numbers PMLN has a popularity rate of 101%.

PTI leaders called out for associating filth with Jhagra’s statements and disrespecting Maryam Nawaz when in fact he was referring to the calculation done by Maryam Nawaz.

Many are rallying behind Taimur Khan Jhagra and condemning people for assuming his statement is sexist and misogynistic.

PMLN’s Shaza Fatima called him out and said that the tweet had double-meaning insinuations. Responding to her Jhagra said, “No Shaza. After I heard a PMLN leader say tractor-trolley, I vowed to leave the undignified slurs to others.”  He again shared the video of Maryam Nawaz.

Later, Taimur Khan Jhagra also shared the video of Maryam Nawaz in another tweet with a short note.

He said, “One tweet exposed the dirt on many people’s minds. I don’t need to name names. For those who know me, rest assured, no matter how much trash people throw at you, you have to be true to yourself and your values. Leave the mess to others.
