Toyota revamps Revo and launches diesel Fortuner

Toyota Indus Motors is all set to launch Toyota Fortuner with a diesel engine this month as currently, the Fortuner is being sold across Pakistan comes with 2TR – FE Petrol Engine. The Diesel variant is already available in other countries and Toyota Indus Motors has announced that after vigorous road tests, it is being brought to Pakistan as well.

The diesel Fortuner is powered by a 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine, not the 1KD-FTV 3.0L engine as rumoured before. In non-engine specs, nothing has been changed. The base model already has 17-inch alloy wheels in place of the previous model’s steel rims. Rear parking sensors have already been added to the 2017 variant, complementing the already-included rear-view camera.

Commuters need resilient and durable automotive to transport their goods. Considering the popularity of Toyota’s SUV’s and 4 x 4’s in Pakistan, it is safe to say that Revo and Fortuner Diesel will be a pertinent choices.

The new engine 1GD-FTV delivers a maximum output of 130 kilowatt at 3400 Rotations Per Minute and 450 nanometre at 1400 Rotations Per Minute torque. 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine has less compression ratio (15.6) than 1KD-FTV 3.0L (17.9) engine. GD makes 450Nm of torque at 1400 RPM while the older KD variant makes 352Nm of torque at 1400 RPM.

It’s pertinent to mention that IMC Toyota has revamped the Vigo Offspring Hilux Revo with a 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel engine and has started taking orders since 13th of February. The 2.8 L Diesel engine is the new 2018 Toyota Revo highlight. Previously, Toyota Revo was available in 3.0L straight four turbo diesel engine.

The engine of Toyota Revo is part of Toyota’s new GD diesel engine series, introduced by Toyota in 2015. The new 2755cc inline-4 common-rail diesel engine is a turbocharged unit. It does have an intercooler. At 3400 RPM the vehicle makes 175 BHP.  The maximum torque is of 450Nm between 1600-2400 RPM. The new engine comes with a new advanced 6-speed automatic sequential transmission or also a 6-speed manual transmission.

The increase in tourism has also contributed to this as the Northern areas of Pakistan have the most popular tourist destinations in the region and are usually accessible only through 4 x 4 transmission vehicles.

Other new features of Toyota Revo car include a smart keyless entry with push start, modes of power & Eco for various types of driving, knee airbag at the driver’s side etc. The cat also has downhill assist control & hill start assist.

Toyota Revo is available as yet in three variants: Revo G M/T, Revo G A/T, and Revo V A/T. The most favorite of all three is anticipated to be 2.8L Revo V which is priced at PKR 4,649,000 (ex-factory).

Another Toyota related gossip circulating is that soon Toyota will replace its Gli, Xli Corolla variants with a new Toyota Vios car. Toyota Indus has closed the bookings for Corolla Gli & Xli models for a couple of months now. Following a pattern with the old sedans, this means discontinuation and brewing of something fresh. Corolla Gli and Xli have been the favorites of the Pakistani market since their advent.

The growth in the local automobile industry has led to an exponential demand for innovation in SUV’s, CUV’s and carrier vehicles, which has subsequently enraged the demand for 4×4 vehicles. The increase in tourism has also contributed to this as the Northern areas of Pakistan have the most popular tourist destinations in the region and are usually accessible only through 4 x 4 transmission vehicles.
