A petitioner has once again filed a plea in the Sindh High Court (SHC) seeking the exhumation and an autopsy of deceased TV host Aamir Liaquat Hussain who passed away in June.
According to the details, the petitioner maintained that the police also want to perform an autopsy to determine the cause of Aamir Liaquat’s death. The court then directed the petitioner to present a reference to the said judgments.
Notices were also issued to Aamir Liaquat’s daughter Dua Aamir, Sindh prosecutor-general, and Dania (Aamir Liaquat’s third wife) for August 29. Moreover, it also summoned the Brigade Police Station SHO in a personal capacity.
Pertinent to mention that Aamir Liaquat’s post-mortem has deepened the rifts between his third wife Dania and his former spouse Bushra Iqbal. Following his death, Dania moved the SHC, seeking an order for the exhumation and postmortem of her husband, a demand that is opposed by Aamir Liaquat’s children and Bushra Iqbal.
Aamir Liaquat’s post mortem case
Controversial politician and TV celebrity, Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain passed away in Karachi on June 9th, 2022. According to the initial reports, he passed away from gas leakage in his home. He was shifted to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was allegedly found unconscious in his home.
Due to the mysterious circumstances of Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s death, a petition was filed on June 18 for an autopsy of the anchor. The appeal was accepted by the court. However, Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s children – who are the legal heirs – said they did not want an autopsy as it would “hurt the deceased’s soul” and that they did not suspect any foul play.
As a result of the court orders, the Health Department of Sindh issued a letter to Karachi’s police surgeon for the exhumation and post-mortem examination. Earlier, the court annulled the decision to conduct Dr. Aamir Liaquat’s post-mortem as it hurt the sentiments of his children.
