After the appointment of Noor Wali Mehsud, the leadership of TTP returned to the Mehsud tribe, as the first two TTP chiefs Baitullah Mehsud and Hakimullah Mehsud were also Mehsud. Noor Wali Mehsud has been part of TTP since its creation.
