Jemima Goldsmith, the former wife of Prime Minister Imran Khan, extended support to Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, on her bombshell announcement to abdicate from senior royal duties.
She recognized British media’s relentless spite towards Meghan Markle and the challenges of marrying a national hero from another country in a series of tweets.
I can’t judge whether the relentless criticism of Meghan has been driven mostly by racism, as I’m personally more alert to antisemitic and Islamophobic dog whistles. But I can say definitively – like criticism of all female consorts- royal, celebrity, political- it’s sexist.

She deduced Britain’s media scorn towards Meghan Markle and its extremely suspicious demeanor towards the female royal consort the prime reason for Meghan Markle’s debacle with the royal family.
Jemima said she is not sure if Britain’s media scorn towards Meghan Markle was driven by racism because she (herself) has mostly been the victim of anti-semitic and Islamophobia but duchess’ experience of vilification is relatable to her.
She, however, disagreed with the way Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tackled the crisis.

Perhaps, the entire episode of Meghan Markle’s rift with royal family perpetuated by British media evoked Jemima Goldsmith’s painful memories of contempt by Pakistani media and conservatives towards her for her ethnicity and religion, when she married Imran Khan- the famous cricketer of his time.
In other tweets, Jemima Goldsmith recalled that virtually all the female royal consorts experienced disdain from Britain’s media and defined British media’s behavior sexist.

Adding that, while Kate Middleton, Camilla, Fergie, and Meghan were equally denigrated, Princess Diana suffered the worst of all. Moreover, there exists a special disdain for American consorts
Jemima Goldsmith, however, regretted Britain’s extremely unpleasant behavior towards Meghan Markle.
Jemima Goldsmith and Pakistani media
Goldsmith suffered hostility in Pakistan from media and religious conservatives alike although she had embraced Islam before marrying Imran Khan. Jemima was a Jew but her religion was often used to stymie Khan’s political struggle.
Even after decades of dissolution of her marriage with Imran Khan, conservatives in Pakistan still hound her for being a pawn of the Jewish lobby.
On several occasions, Jemima Goldsmith has retorted to accusations of being a Jewish lobby supporter.

Jemima Goldsmith even posted the article from Global Village Space Publication, which busted vile propaganda spread by PML-N to defame her as Jewish loyalist working against the interests of Pakistan under the garb of the wife of a Pakistani man, Imran Khan.
PM Khan take on the royal crisis
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan believes that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have the right to live their life on their terms.
He said “I think, it’s their life. If that’s how they want to lead it, then why should people interfere?”
Khan expressed these views in an interview with German broadcaster Deutsche Welle (DW).
