The Lux Style Awards have released their nominations for Fashion, Television and Music categories in the 20th edition of the award show. This year, due to the covid-19 pandemic no nominations have been released for the ‘film’ category.
For the last twenty years, the awards are held annually to celebrate and acknowledge the best work done by the entertainment and performing arts industry. The award show is also a festival in itself as every year, many celebrities perform and entertain the audience through their voice, dancing skills and delighting performances.
“I extend my gratitude to our jury that has been a vital part of this journey and LSA’s success over the years. It is deeply heartening to celebrate our twentieth year at a time when the Entertainment fraternity has braved tough COVID conditions, to support the nation through an emotionally challenging period by creating uplifting content when audiences needed it the most. Congratulations to all nominees participating this year.” said Asima Haq, the director of Beauty and Personal Care at Unilever Pakistan.
The biggest names of the industry including Yumna Zaidi, Bilal Abbas, Imran Ashraf, Sajal Ali, Ahad Raza Mir and Ayeza Khan have been nominated in different categories for their performances on screen.
The voting lines have been opened for the viewer’s choice categories and people are rooting for their favorite nominee.
However, this year the nominations have been criticized by the people specially by ARY’s viewers as they have not been nominated in any of the categories.
Similarly, Sajal Ali’s fans are hoping that the 11 year streak of Sajal not getting a single lux style award will change this year since she has been nominated in the ‘Best Actress Critics’ and ‘Best Actress Viewer’s Choice’ category for her role in drama serial Alif .
@rabiamughni @aamnaisani @hassanchoudary pls don't let her performance as momina sultan go unnoticed, she deserves this trophy this time. 11 years and counting but still not a single LSA Trophy. Pls don't break our hearts this time. Ek akhri dafa umeed lagai hai🙏💔😔 #LSA2021 https://t.co/JhKFVKhbGX

Additionally, Ahmed Ali Akbar has emerged as a very promising actor in recent times, however, he has not been nominated for his role in Ehd-E-Wafa although his performance received a lot of love and appreciation from the audience.
Others have also questioned the credibility and standards that LSA nominates on.
No matter how huge they were in terms of TRPs, award shows shouldn't be nominating shows like Raaz E Ulfat, Fitrat, Meherposh, Deewangi, Kahin Deep Jalay. Where are the STANDARDS? 😬 #LSA2021 pic.twitter.com/RQFriBaSVr
