Salman Khan under fire for hoisting Pakistani flag in India

News Desk |

Bollywood actor Salman Khan is caught up in another controversy for hoisting the flag of Pakistan in a movie scene of his upcoming film ‘Bharat’. The angry protestors have lodged a complaint against him.

The director of the movie Ali Abbas Zafar wanted to shot the scene at the Wagah Border but was denied access due to security reasons. Hence the team of Bharat recreated Wagah Border in the nearby village of Punjab. The villagers, however, were irked when they saw the crew put a Pakistani flag on their land for a movie scene in their village.

“A lot of local bodies were upset about how someone could hoist Pakistan’s flag on Indian soil. We have had such issues earlier in Kashmir and in places like Mumbai as well, when Pakistan flags have been put up during Ind0-Pak cricket matches,” a news outlet quoted a source as saying.

“Even though this is for a film shoot, local organizations are upset and have filed a police complaint against Salman. They also surrounded the sets of Bharat and the hotel that Salman was staying at. After all, it is a film shoot but the locals refuse to understand,” the source added further.

The team of Bharat quickly wrapped up the setup and rushed back to Mumbai after sensing anger amongst the villagers.

Bharat is a period film that will depict the events of Indo-Pak partition. The movie will depict the history of India through the life of an ordinary man. Salman Khan is set to don five looks in the movie spanning over 60 years.

Katrina Kaif has been signed as the leading lady in ‘Bharat’ after Priyanka Chopra backed off last minute from the movie due to personal reasons. The movie will hit the cinema screens on Eid 2019.
